Yehliu is a small town situated in the North of Taiwan. We had to take the subway and a bus to go there for about one hour and a half. But Yehliu was worth the wait. And the bus took a sea road so we could enjoy the beautiful scenery. It made the ride way smoother, even if the driver was driving like a mad man.
We took off at Yehliu station. The road was going down and it was around one in the afternoon so the sun was burning. We stopped at a convenience store to buy an umbrella (to protect us against the burning sun) and some fruits (taiwan's fruits are delicious and oh so cheap). We then walked in the Geo Park's direction. We just had to follow the street.

A small port stood up on our right. Our friend explained that many thaï immigrants came to Taiwan and became divers. Their equipments were drying under the sun and trails of light bulbs were hanging up parked boats. It was really interesting to see.
Finally we arrived at the entrance of the Geo Park. The parking was filled up with huge buses, chinese tourists were speaking everywhere. It's was really strange because most of the visitors were really old. Like groups of grandmas and grandpas.
We paid our tickets (80 TWD per person) and started the visit. The main path was so busy that we choose to go on a smaller one, shaded by trees. We stepped on small rocks, like kids playing a game. We ended up in front of the sea.

The colors were a-ma-zing. Yellow, Green, Blue... it was strong, vibrant, wonderful. My camera couldn't get it all, it's something you have to see. Salty wind was softly blowing, it was perfect.
We walked on a long trail to go around the place. We admired those weirdly shaped rocks, we saw the infamous Queen's Head. A long queue of chinese tourists was waiting to get a picture next to it. It was funny to see.

We walked until we saw some stairs going up a little mountain. We started this hiking path and as we were going up, it was becoming more and more silent. We could only hear Nature sounds. Waves crashing, birds flying, the wind going through trees and grass, chirpings. It was so relaxing, even if the weather was so hot and humid. As we were going up, we started to see a lot of butterflies. It was so magical, I enjoyed every seconds of it.
We ended up on a small platform dominating everything. The wind was stronger, so soothing after this hiking. The view we had was just a-mazing !!! We could admire the sea and Yehliu from where we were. A diver, a cute lizard, butterflies... it was like a dream. A round table was on the center of the platform, we sat there to relax for a while. I wished I had bought something to eat with me, coz snaking up this place would have been awesome. It was sooo so peaceful, especially after all the noise and busyness of Geo Park. It was also very romantic... So if you are a lazy ass like me, trust me. The view we had is worth the effort we provided in hiking. |
Direction : Take the red line until Tamsui. Then in front of the station, take the bus 862. Be careful coz there are 30 minutes to 1 hour between each bus. Then take off at Yehliu station. There are other ways to go there, you may find information on the website.
